Early Milestone of Spring Test MVC

A milestone release (version 1.0.0.M1) of the Spring Test MVC project is now available through the SpringSource artifactory repository. If you’ve been using the project the http://repo.springsource.org/libs-snapshot repository, you can also use it for milestones. Alternatively you can use the http://repo.springsource.org/libs-milestone repository. For more details see the SpringSource Repository FAQ.

The project has become quite popular already and there have been many questions surrounding its release date. As mentioned on the project home page the plan is to fold it back into the spring-test module of the Spring Framework in Spring 3.2. In the mean time, milestone releases will continue to be released in parallel with milestone releases of Spring 3.2.

One of the test-related features in Spring 3.2 that is relevant to Spring Test MVC is Support for Web Applications in the TestContext framework. That will become available in Spring 3.2 M2 allowing Spring Test MVC to build on it.

Thanks to everyone using the project, providing comments, as well as contributions. Keep them coming!

  1. Mike Youngstrom says:

Congrats on the release. This is a very useful tool. Is this release still compatible with Spring 3.1? Or is it Spring 3.2 only from here on out?

  2. Rossen says:

Thanks, yes the code is compatible with Spring 3.1.x and should remain that way at least until 3.2 is released.

  3. Fredrik Larsson says:

Is it just me or is the pom file missing in the repository?

[WARNING] The POM for org.springframework:spring-test-mvc:jar:1.0.0.M1 is missing, no dependency information available
    Downloading: http://repo.springsource.org/libs-milestone/org/springframework/spring-test-mvc/1.0.0.M1/spring-test-mvc-1.0.0.M1.jar

  4. Rossen says:

Ok the missing pom has been added. Apologies for the delay.

  6. Vishnu says:

Can we assume that spring’s milestone versions, in this case spring-test-mvc-1.0.0.M2 will not have any snapshot dependencies. We would like to use the mile stone version though I was asked to guarantee that milestone will not pull in snapshot dependencies

  7. Rossen says:

Vishnu, you can see from the pom.xml that there are no snapshot versions. In fact the main reason why spring-test-mvc exists as a separate project is to make sure you can use it today with Spring MVC 3.1.x.

Note also that we are in the process of merging this project into the Spring Framework. It’s already available in version 3.2 RC1.
